Design for Additive Manufacturing

Materials and Structuring

Orientation

Choosing the correct 3D printing material depends on the specific requirements of your project, such as strength, flexibility, heat resistance, or appearance. Factors like the printing technology (e.g., FDM, DLP), material cost, and post-processing needs also play a crucial role in determining the ideal material for optimal performance and efficiency.

Orientation

We consider how the part will be oriented during the printing process to minimize the need for support structures, optimizing time, and materials while maintaining the highest tensile and compression strength

Supports are added for overhangs and complex geometries. In the image shown above is a DLP supported Part with the supports printed in the same material breaking away from the part in post-processing. FDM supports are typically printed in the same material or a designated break-away material if the printer supports dual extrusion.
